What is the role of a Pediatric Speech therapist?
A speech therapist uses a variety of strategies with a child one-on-one or in a small group to overcome the problem. The strategies include the following:
Language intervention activities: Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) interacts with a child through different mediums like playing, talking and discussing ideas, using toys, objects, pictures or books to stimulate language development. During this activity, the therapist, models correct vocabulary and repetition of words and sentences to build language skills.
Oral-motor/feeding and swallowing therapy: During this therapy, the SLP use a variety of oral exercises including facial massage, jaw, lip, and tongue exercises to strengthen the muscles of the mouth. The therapist also come up with various activities to introduce different food textures and temperatures to increase the oral awareness of the child.
Articulation therapy: During this therapy, the SLP comes up with various sound production activities to help children identify the correct sounds and syllables in words, sentences or short phrases.
Kids won’t feel a thing when using the Kinesio tape
It might feel a bit itchy and uncomfortable when applying the tape; we suggest you keep it for three days for most total effects. Once the tape is removed, it does not stick to the skin. Removing the rape is easy when it’s wet; however, we tend to apply olive oil on the tap and let it soak in.
